The Midland police and fire departments respond to a vehicle crash on Oct. 12, 2022 in the area of South Saginaw Road and Rodd Street.
The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by reporter Tereasa Nims.
Monday, Nov. 7
9:57 p.m. – Deputies were sent to a Larkin Township home for a report of a 13-year-old runaway. While enroute, the 13-year-old was located at the Midland Mall. Contact was made with the boy with the assistance of Midland police. It was later discovered the 13-year-old was in possession of a vape pen.
8:50 p.m. – A doctor’s office called 911 for a wellbeing check on a 64-year-old woman who wasn’t answering her phone. Contact was made with the woman who stated that she had no cell service at her house. She would call her doctor on Tuesday.
8:34 p.m. – A deputy responded to a Jasper Township residence to assist Isabella County with a failure to pay gasoline complaint that occurred in Isabella County. Contact was made with a 47-year-old woman who advised it was an accident and there were card machine issues. The woman returned to the store to correct the issue.
8:28 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Lee Township residence for a verbal dispute between a 38-year-old woman and her 56-year-old neighbor. The parties were separated, and no physical assault occurred. Both parties agreed to leave each other alone.
8:20 p.m. – Greendale and Lee townships fire and EMS along with deputies were dispatched to a Greendale Township business regarding a man who was sleeping in a car. Lee Township firefighters checked on the man and advised that he was ok. The man left the business. No deputy response was needed.
8:16 p.m. – A deputy spoke with a 55-year-old Porter Township woman regarding her 58-year-old husband violating a conditional bond. A report has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
8:14 p.m. – Officers responded to westbound U.S. 10 and Stark Road for a property damage crash.
8:03 p.m. – Police were called to M-20 and Vance Road for a property damage crash.
7:44 p.m. – Police responded to the 5100 block of Tucker Street for an assault.
7:41 p.m. – Police were dispatched to Waldo Road and Wheeler Street for a property damage crash.
7:38 p.m. – Report of a loose horse in Warren Township. The caller called back and advised that the owner had located the loose horse and returned it home.
6:11 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a private property damage crash in Midland Township.
4:37 p.m. -Police responded to the 3600 block of S. Saginaw Road for a verbal domestic dispute.
4:17 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to Porter Township in reference to a report of a suspicious person walking near the roadway. Deputies searched the area and were unable to locate the person. No additional reports were made in reference to the suspicious person.
3:51 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Jerome Township roadway in reference to a report of a traffic hazard. Deputies located and removed the traffic hazard without incident.
3:55 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a car/deer crash on Stark Road near Shaffer Road.
2:41 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to Edenville Township in reference to a 60-year-old man requesting a deputy to stand by while a civil meet was conducted. Deputies assisted in a standby capacity and no additional assistance was requested from the sheriff’s office.
1:04 p.m. – Police responded to East Buttles and George streets for a crash.
12:17 p.m. – An animal control deputy received a call regarding an aggressive, potentially dangerous dog running loose from a home in Homer Township. This has been an ongoing problem. The dog owner arranged to have the dog euthanized.
11:21 a.m. – An animal control deputy was dispatched to a cat bite complaint that occurred at a home in Mills Township. Cat was a feral cat, owner unknown. Victim treated at urgent care.
11:12 a.m. – A deputy assisted a Midland Township enforcement officer with trying to serve a 34-year-old woman with violation paperwork. A 28-year-old man at the residence was hostile toward the deputy and enforcement officer but was provided with the paperwork.
9:30 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Lee Township residence in reference to a 74-year-old man reporting his 67-year-old wife found deceased. Upon further investigation there were no signs of suspicious or foul play and the death appeared to be from natural causes.
8:14 a.m. – Police were called to the 7400 block of Eastman Avenue for a stolen vehicle complaint.
8:11 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Ingersoll Township residence for a 911 hang up. Deputies contacted the homeowner, who advised she was having phone issues and it was an accidental call.
7:36 a.m. – A Sanford gas station reported that a red Ford pickup pulling a boat left without paying for $96.78 in diesel fuel.
7:50 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Lee Township residence in reference to a report of a domestic assault between a 40-year-old man and his 42-year-old brother. The 42-year-old brother fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival.
4:05 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Jerome Township location regarding a 53-year-old man stating that his 16-year-old daughter was acting belligerently. Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with the female. She agreed to start behaving.
4:30 a.m. – A deputy responded to the Midland County Jail to transport an inmate to the ER for treatment of an accidental injury. The inmate was treated and returned to the jail without incident.
12:00 a.m. – Deputies cited a 33-year-old woman for no insurance following a traffic stop on a Greendale Township roadway.
