A swimming pool has had to close after “very small pieces of debris” were found – just three months after major renovations were completed.
The pool at Tenterden Leisure Centre reopened in September following an 11-month closure after storms caused extensive damage to the roof.
Further stormy weather then caused severe damage which meant the pool had to close completely while repairs and renovations were made.
But the facility has again been closed until further notice while inspections are carried out.
In a statement online, leisure centre bosses said: “It is with regret that the pool is temporarily closed until further notice.
“We sincerely apologise to our customers and staff for this disruption, but rest assured we will be liaising with Ashford Borough Council to discuss appropriate measures and communicate to customers once we know more.
“We recently discovered very small pieces of debris in the pool area and following a short closure to ensure the safety of our valued customers and our team, we reopened the pool on Tuesday.
“However, having increased inspections this week to ensure we quickly identified any further issues, on Wednesday evening our team was forced to close once again due to further sightings of this very small debris.
“We want to thank you for your patience during this period and share your frustration during this time.”
Work began in September last year to remove the roof and replace it with a more thermally efficient covering, which will also require less maintenance.
The facility was only supposed to only be closed for a week, but the extent of the damage soon became clear and bosses announced the pool would have to stay shut until “summer 2022”.

The pushback of the date allowed workers to restore and improve the facilities while work to finish the roof continued.
