The beloved British baking competition will be back for another season in 2023.
Pre-heat your ovens and check your proving drawers, baking fans, because there’s more of everyone’s favorite British baking competition in the works. While The Great British Baking Show—known as the The Great British Bake Off in the UK—is still in the midst of its run for its 13th season (
new episodes drop every Friday at 3 a.m. ET / midnight PT on Netflix) those who just can’t get enough of the show’s winning charm and baking experiments needn’t worry about the show’s future.
In September, the show put out a call looking for a brand new cast of home bakers for next year’s season, with applications being accepted through December 4, 2022. Given that the application and audition process is famously rigorous (2017’s winner Sophie Faldo revealed that the application alone is 7 pages long, with phone and in-person interviews, plus camera tests and background checks before anyone makes it to the baking tent) there’s likely to be quite some time before filming starts, even after the applicants are chosen.
That’s certainly in-keeping with the show’s usual schedule, which typically encompasses 10 weeks of filming through late spring and mid-summer, with new episodes expected in early fall. Though no official announcements have been made as to whether the show will be sticking to that routine, given that the next season will mark their 14th outing (not all of the seasons are available on Netflix in the U.S., where the 2022 season is listed as Collection 10) it seems likely that they’ll stick to the tried and true.
We will continue to update this post as new information becomes available.
